5 golden rules to great bass playing

Your role in any band is to support each chord individually

consider it your mission statement

support that chord

you are going to achieve this by :-

1 playing the root of each chord

2 playing the root of each chord followed by the chord notes

3 playing the root followed by notes from the scale that the chord is in

4 playing a major or minor pentatonic based on the chord name

5 using a walking bass line

ok some of these rules are a bit dificult for a beginner

if you apply rule #1 you`re away

(for a G minor or a G major chord just play a G note)
